Safe Space for Children in Dangerous Area Announced.

£50,000 has been raised for the construction scheme of a new playground and communal facility in the derelict area of Landsmere in Bradfield, as Bradfield’s council teamed up with the local community to create a safe space for young children.

The scheme comes after decades of vandalism and high crime rates have left locals concerned for the safety of their young children, and though previous attempts at re-establishing Landsmere’s look have proved unsuccessful, Bradfield Housing Association is also currently spending £2 million renovating older properties to improve and polish the area’s image and deter current rates of crime.

The two month project will provide play equipment, skateboarding and scooter areas, as well as covered shelters for supervising adults which will be secured with fencing and a daily lock up, all of which is hoped to ‘remove the stigma’ that Landsmere currently faces.
